Amazing sushi. Little know fact.....at lunchtime they have the best ramen on along Island. It's absolutely incredible.
Excellent service! High quality food! Great specialty menu. I wish the restaurant would be a bit bigger but it is what it is. The tables might be a bit small for some. Best bet is to come at the opening otherwise you will need to wait as it fills up fast for dinner!
We had their omakase and Tony was amazing! I would come back. Fish is fresh and service is amazing
The restaurant felt fancy, with classy music playing throughout as we wolf down on sushi. The sushi was presented beautifully and tasted great too! I do wish the menu had photos though cause some rolls could lead to a hit or miss.
Have been coming here for many years. This place never disappoints. The fish is high quality, fresh and melts in your mouth. For appetizer, we ordered the hamachi kama which tends to sell out early and fried soft shell crab. Both dishes were perfectly cooked. We ordered 3 rolls (Tropical frenzy, trouble maker and moms favorite roll) to share and it was more than enough for 2 ppl. It does get busy during dinner time so make sure to go early or call to make a reservation ahead of time.
Finally made it here! It was so worth the wait. I've read so many reviews on various platforms. All stellar reviews. It is on the smaller side, but if you get there early or don't mind eating later, those seem to be the best times. We were told a 20 minute wait, but provost only had to wait 10. It was surprisingly quiet for a restaurant on the smaller side, which made for a quite refreshing experience, being able to enjoy a conversation while at dinner. For a fully packed restaurant on a Saturday night the service was what would be expected. For a meal contains such high quality food, we did not mind the wait. The staff are so friendly. They were extremely attentive; kept refilling our drinks and apologizing for the wait For our first time we started with hot appetizers (soft shell crab and beef yakitori). For dinner we tried the amazing tuna, black dragon and crazy rich Asian rolls. I also wanted to try the nigiri; for me, any sushi place can make a roll but only the truly authentic gems can produce fantastic nigiri. The knife skills are on point and the quality and freshness of the fish is incredible. The mackerel was one of the best I've ever had. And the Uni was exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. A sushi chef once told me a secret about the preparation of ikura, and this gem definitely knows what they are doing. I am so glad we found this gem and we're so looking foreword to trying more of their delicious food!
I came here based upon my fellow Yelp Elites' recommendations. Saw the great reviews and gave this place a shot. What a wonderful find! I would definitely suggest calling for a reservation, as the place gets crowded quickly. Upon arriving, my mom and I had to wait 25 minutes to be seated, but we didn't mind. The wait was totally worth it in the end! Hands down, the best Japanese restaurant I've tried on Long Island. Restaurant has a quiet and comfortable ambiance. Very cozy inside during the chilly weather. To start off, my mom and I ordered the pork gyoza and chicken tempura, which came with some vegetables. Now let's talk about the vegetables. I'm particular about my vegetables and these tasted so fresh! Everything was fried just the right amount. We also ordered the pork fried rice, which had very nice flavors. For our sushi choices, we decided among the Shaki-Maki (Salmon) roll and the Exotic Roll. The seaweed wrapping was quite tasty! The sushi itself was also prepared perfectly. Mild, but a satisfying meal :) Service was great as well. For dessert, we ordered the green tea ice cream. This was perfectly sweetened. You could really taste the green tea flavor, while it wasn't too overpowering. Overall I thought the prices were pretty fair considering the quality of the food and I would highly recommend. Thank you Torigo and Yelp friends!
I really enjoyed my time at Torigo and our meal. Came here with a large group for an office celebration. We were easily accommodated and able to bring cake and balloons. Wait staff was attentive, took all of the orders easily, and the food was presented nicely. We got a mix of sushi, bento boxes, and teriyaki lunches. All were good! I was surprised they were starting to have a full crowd midday on a Thursday. Definitely will be here again on my own to try the sushi! Love finding local hidden gems.
I've been to Torigo many times over the last few years. They've been consistently delicious each time. The restaurant itself is small but generally I am comfortable wherever I'm seated. There is a municipal parking lot in the back, street parking in the front and residential streets nearby. The service is friendly and attentive, even when they are packed and have many takeout orders to keep track of. They come by to clear plates and refill drinks. There can be a bit of a wait for the sushi when it does get that busy, but it is worth the wait since the chefs take great care in making the sushi. The appetizers are good for sharing. I enjoy their Kani Kama Salad. It is a good balance of crunch from the cucumbers with the kani. They do give a complimentary appetizer of a small cup of glass noodles. The Deluxe Sushi & Sashimi Combo for 2 is a good deal if you want a variety. It comes with either miso soup or salad. The fish is always fresh, and good portion sizes (thick pieces!). The prices have gone up over the last few years but still getting excellent value for the quality. They have many interesting rolls if you prefer! If you've still got room for dessert, the Matcha Ice Cream has a strong flavor of matcha. Same with the Match Creme Brulee, though a bit too sweet for my taste. I always leave Torigo satisfied and wanting to come back again soon. I would like to try out their omakase at some point as well!
